Full Details
- Title
- North Shore Management Zone Boundary [Minnesota]
- Description
- This dataset delineates the area along the north shore of Lake Superior noted as the 'North Shore Management Zone' where the State Shoreland Management Standards are instead guided by the North Shore Management Plan, as detailed in Minnesota Rules, part 6120.2800, Subp. 1a (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/6120.2800/ ). , The North Shore Management Board was created in 1987, during the development of the 1989 update to the Statewide Shoreland Management Rules. Creation of the Board was also driven by the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCMR) to create a management plan for the North Shore of Lake Superior. The plan was adopted by the North Shore Management Board on November 29, 1988. The standards and policies serve as a substitute to the Statewide Standards for Management of Shoreland Areas, as detailed in Minnesota Rules, part 6120.2800, Subp. 1a (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/6120.2800/#rule.6120.2800.1 ). This dataset provides a spatial representation of the North Shore Management Zone Boundary, most recently described in Section 1.4.1 of the 2016 version of the North Shore Management Plan – which is consistent with what was described in the 1988 plan (https://northshoremanagementboard.files.wordpress.com/2021/10/nsmb.document.full_.pdf ). , This boundary has remained unchanged since creation of the plan in 1988. This data is not subject to frequent change. Any change to the boundary would likely require a rulemaking to amend Minnesota Rules, part 6120.2800, Subp. 1a (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/6120.2800/#rule.6120.2800.1 ).
