Description
This Feature Dataset contains those public drainage system (as defined by Minnesota Statute 103E) layers where Chippewa County, Minnesota is considered the legal drainage authority as defined in MS 103E. This feature dataset may include hydrographic features such as ditch/tile centerlines. In addition, portions of it were intended for use in third-party hydrographic studies and modeling. These datasets represent the completion of a project that was funded through a BWSR FY18 grant to update drainage systems based on historical data review. For more information on the project, a collaborative effort by the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) and the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office (MnGeo), see: https://bwsr.state.mn.us/drainage-minnesota, Drainage systems were mapped based on a variety of sources including engineering drawings, aerial photos and LiDAR. The information should be considered the best available information at the time of the data updates to represent a planning level as-builts in GIS. There are often gaps in historical information, so it is advised to always consult the legal drainage authorities if questions arise. This dataset should not be used for any legal decisions.
