Local General Sales and Use Tax Area Boundaries, archived datasets [Minnesota]

Description:

This geodatabase contains archived boundaries for local general sales and use tax areas in Minnesota, along with rates and descriptions for each area. This data was developed as a geographical representation of the boundaries of local general sales and use tax rates in Minnesota. A new dataset is created each quarter as boundaries change and local jurisdictional units add or discontinue the implementation of local general sales and use taxes. Past quarters are included here. Current data is also available via the Minnesota Geospatial Commons. These datasets DO NOT include special local taxes that may exist (lodging, entertainment, liquor, admissions and restaurant taxes). To learn more about sales and use tax collected by the Minnesota Department of Revenue, visit this page. https://www.revenue.state.mn.us These data are used to inform tax payers and tax collectors about local general sales and use tax rates in Minnesota as part of a national consortium of states that provide tools to lessen the burden of sales tax administration. As these taxing areas can change quarterly, the boundary dataset is updated quarterly. The files included here are from previous quarters. New datasets will be added each quarter of the calendar year as the previous quarter's data expires. Each file name is appended with the year and quarter.
