Description
This historical archive is a geodatabase that contains boundaries of all public school districts in the state of Minnesota for each school year in the 2010 decade. Minnesota school districts report any changes to their elementary, middle and high school attendance area boundaries annually. Each file in this group was developed from this annual information and is now provided as historical information. This school district file was dissolved from the statewide attendance boundary file to show just the statewide school district boundaries. Since 2008, district boundaries have been modified based on county parcels. If parcels are not available then Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' Township-Range-Quarter-Quarter Section boundaries are used. This metadata summarizes the content of these files but individual metadata records are also included for each annual file. The fall 2020 update is the final update for this data resource., These school district boundary files are developed as GIS datasets and, along with additional information, are used by the Minnesota Department of Education to identify program financial priorities. The files are also used to support a variety of mapping and data analysis applications., School years completed within the 2010 decade.
