This data represents a LiDAR-derived 3-ft countywide first-return Intensity Image for Barron County, Wisconsin in 2005. This dataset has elevation values in feet and is in the WISCRS coordinate system: WKID 103402. LiDAR intensity is recorded as the return strength of a laser beam. It is a bi-product, provided as an integer number between 1-256. This number varies with the composition of the surface object reflecting the laser beam. A low number indicates low reflectivity while a high number indicates high reflectivity. The intensity of the laser beam return can also be affected by the angle of arrival (scan angle), range, surface composition, roughness, and moisture content., This lidar data dataset was created by the WisconsinView Partners (WVP) – the WI Department of Administration’s Geographic Information Office in collaboration with the UW-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center’s (SSEC) WisconsinView repository. Original lidar data in tiled format from federal or local county/city lidar projects were used to create countywide mosaics of datasets such as DEMS, Intensity images, and DSMs in various projections and coordinate systems.
