- The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) insures mortgages on single family and multi-family homes, manufactured homes, and hospitals. It is the largest insurer of mortgages in the world, insuring over 34 million properties since its inception in 1934. The Insurance in Force data offered through this service indicates the outstanding balance of all active loans aggregated to the 2010 U.S. Census Tract geography.
