Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources. The attribute table data is produced by the National Park Service and the boundaries are created by the Detroit Historic Designation Advisory Board (HDAB) based on the text and map boundaries within each National Registerion nomination form. The National Register is different from Detroit Local Historic District designation . The National Register is honoric in nature. Properties within a National Register site may be required to undergo Section 106 review for development projects that receive any federal funds. Additionally, buildings in the National Register may be eligible for state and federal historic tax credit with approved rehabilitation projects.
