Abstract
2004 NAIP imagery for Wisconsin has a 2-meter spatial resolution. [This data set contains imagery from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). NAIP acquires digital ortho imagery during the agricultural growing seasons in the continental U.S.. A primary goal of the NAIP program is to enable availability of ortho imagery within one year of acquisition. Only the follwoing counties have 2004 NAIP imagery available: Ashland, Barron, Brown, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Crawford, Dane, Dunn, Eau Claire, Grant, Jackson, Kewaunee, La Crosse, Manitowoc, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Richland, Rock, Rusk, Saint Croix, Sauk, Sawyer, Shawano, Sheboygan, Trempealeau, Vernon, Walworth, Washburn, Winnebago, WoodTrue color, orthorectified imagery. Timing: Imagery acquired between June 20th and August 30th 2004 Resolution: 2 m. Accuracy: +/- 3% when compared to a Mosaicked Digital Orthophoto Quadrangle *** This imagery is NOT intended to be used for purposes requiring a high degree of spatial accuracy.]
Purpose
NAIP imagery may be distributed on an interim basis to meet USDA program requirements. The interim product is a compressed county mosaic. Users should be aware that the interim compressed county mosaic may contain defects and have horizontal accuracy less than the specified tolerances. Defective imagery may be replaced within one year of image acquisition date.
Supplemental Information
Only county mosaics are available for the 2004 NAIP imagery. For more detailed information, please see: http://relief.ersc.wisc.edu/wisconsinview/documents/2004_WIFSA_Imagery_Programs.pdf

Description
This Compressed County Mosaic was generated using MrSID Generation Two (MG2) software using a N-level setting of 9 and a target compression ratio of 50:1. All photography was acquired using metric mapping cameras and acompanied by the collection of airborne Global Positioning System (GPS) data. Photography was scanned using Leica Geosystems DSW 500/600 or Z/I Imaging PhotoScan 2002 image scanners at a resolution of approximately 20 micrometers per pixel. All imagery was aerotriangulated in blocks of 200-1,000 photographs using the Z/I Imaging ImageStation Automatic Triangulation (ISAT) software package. Orthorectification was performed with custom software and the USGS National Elevation Dataset was used for the elevation model. Digital orthophotos were radiometrically balanced in groups of 100-500 images using the Inpho OrthoVista product. Custom software automatically generated the MrSID project parameter file to control the insertion of the digital orthophotos in the final mosaic. The ordering scheme of the digital orthophotos is based on a last-in-last-on-top scheme.
