U.S. Fish & Wildlife ServiceThe Maine Dams dataset, maintained by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is a comprehensive spatial and tabular database of dams, levees, impoundments, and barriers impacting Maine's lakes, streams, and rivers. It includes both current and historical facilities. Spatial and tabular data will be updated on an ongoing basis. The Maine DEP Dams layers were created from various sources, including a historical dams dataset based on the Inventory of Dams on Maine Waterways (1973), the Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) dams datasets, the Maine Stream Habitat Viewer (MSHV) dataset, and others. ID fields were created and maintained in order to cross-reference the DEP dataset with the National Inventory of Dams (NID), MEMA, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Projects.
