The 1958 Zoning Map and Text was the first completely rewritten/remapped zoning ordinance for Pittsburgh since it first adopted zoning in 1923. It is the first ordinance to combine use, area, and height regulations into a single layer of zoning districts. This ordinance remains the foundation of the current (2025) zoning ordinance, even though it underwent a significant overhaul in 1999. Details Reviewed created this map based on the map included in the May 1958 Zoning Ordinance available from the Pittsburgh City Archives. The digitization was funded by the Heinz Endowments.
