Description
The Frosted Elfin point and line data is comprised of the data used in the USFWS's 2018 SSA Report and data collected as part of an extensive survey effort from 2019-2021. The point locations represent either a specific point location given in the SSA data or the centroid of a survey line from the 2019-2021 surveys. For the 2019-2021 surveys, the locations were usually visited on multiple occasions, so the the data has been summarized into a single record for analysis purposes. The network patches are grouped on survey data and lines within 1km buffers based on the following categories:Geographic Region: Mid-Atlantic (MA),Mid-West (MW),New England (NE),South-Central (SC),and South-East (SE)Dominant Hostplant: Indigo and LupineSubspecies:Irus,Hadrus, andArscae. The landscape data used in the analysis was comprised of the following layers:USGS'sProtected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) 2.1U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and U.S. Department of the Interior'sLANDFIRE Existing Vegetation TypesUSFWS and UMass'sTerrestrial and Aquatic Habitat Map (DSLland), Version 3.1, Northeast U.S.The PADUS layer was reclassified into Protected (GAP Status 1-3) or Not Protected (GAP Status 4) and masked to the areas within the Network Patches. The Landfire and DSLland data was masked to the areas within the network, subset into Habitat/Not Habitat categories, and the Habitat areas were cropped to the PADUS Protected areas.
