Satellite detected water extents between 26 and 30 October 2024 over [South Sudan]
Description
**UNOSAT code: FL20240425SSD** This map illustrates cumulative satellite-detected water using VIIRS in South Sudan between 26 to 30 October 2024 compared with the period from 20 to 24 October 2024 . Within the cloud free analysed areas of about 630,000 km², a total of about 43,000 km² of lands appear to be affected with flood waters. Water extent appears to have increased of about 3,700 km² since the period between 20 to 24 October 2024 . Based on Worldpop population data and the maximal flood water extent ~870,000 people are potentially exposed or living close to flooded areas.
