These data represent detailed land cover in Tacoma, WA. The data were derived using remote sensing technologies on aerial imagery from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP), flown in August 2017. This data was part of the Urban Tree Canopy (UTC) Assessment of Tacoma, WA was conducted by Plan-It Geo, LLC for the City of Tacoma, WA. This assessment identifies existing UTC and Possible Planting Areas (PPA) to assist in developing an urban forest management plan. Purpose : Examine urban tree canopy (UTC) in Tacoma across several geographic boundaries to assist in developing an urban forest management plan. Process : Using high resolution aerial imagery from the USDA's National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP), Plan-It Geo used remote sensing and GIS techniques to map and measure land cover types across several geographic scales.
