Description
These layers are included in the Klamath Basin web map which is intended to be an interactive map of the Klamath basin, dams present on the upper system and depicted survey reaches of Arcata Fish and Wildlife Service Fisheries and Aquatic Conservation program's adult escapement monitoring on the Upper Klamath River story map.This story map is meant to educate others about carcass surveys performed by Arcata Fish and Wildlife Office Fisheries Program and Yurok Tribe Fisheries Program on the mainstem Klamath River. Crews climb aboard rafts just below Iron Gate Dam to begin the survey and end at the Shasta river confluence (a total of 21.2 km).The data collected from the field is used to estimate annual escapement and characterize age and sex composition and spawning success of adult fall-run Chinook Salmon on the mainstem Klamath River. These estimations guide decisions for water management as well as fishing regulations.
