- Abstract
- This line data layer represents road centerlines for Dane County, Wisconsin in 2012. The dataset was originally published by the Dane County Land Information Office in 2012.[This layer is a detailed line coverage of the Dane County roadway network containing attributes such as street name and address ranges, ZIP codes, speed limits and routing.]
- Purpose
- This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [A comprehensive street centerline and address range database to support Dane County geocoding, routing, and a cartographic product for official mapping.]

- Description
- [A new road centerline data was created as part of the Fly Dane 2000 project. The dataset was produced from breaklines created in the terrain modeling process. The centerlines were exported from the DTM to a vector file. The Dane County Land Information Office QA/QC the data and added any missing segments.]

- Description
- [In 2003 Short Elliot Hendrickson, Inc. attached county and Madison Area Metropolitan Planning Organization attribute information contained in the 1995 road centerline file, and developed a master street name database to manage roadway name attributes. The master street name database received from SEH was a first compilation from best available regulatory sources. Street names were reviewed and reconciled with help of the County Surveyor, Highway Department, 911 and LIO. Conflicts with town road names were resolved using Dane County rural address maps. City and village road names were acquired from the County Clerk (based on municipal clerk reporting) and supplemented with names from county parcel maps as needed. Conflicts with city and village road names were resolved using county parcel maps. Location conflicts were resolved using these same data sets, together with the Dane County Road Map, plat books and other mapping resources. The LIO completed a detailed quality review for connectivity of roadway segments and completeness of attribution. The data set was completely reviewed by several departments and agencies that included the County Surveyor, Highway, Madison Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. Additionally, data from the City of Fitchburg and City of Sun Prairie was used to review the related street names. Private drives of 250 feet or greater, based from the 2000 orthophotography, where also added.]

- Description
- [In 2005 RA Smith updated the street network by adding new street segments that were part the 2004 parcel archive. These segments were then stitched into the existing linework. RA Smith also develop preliminary address ranges through an automated process that developed address range from the Dane County parcel database and attaching them to the street segments. The LIO completed a detailed quality review of the address range attribution. Additionally, the City of Fitchburg, City of Sun Prairie and Madison Area Metropolitan Planning Organization assisted in reviewing the address ranges for their respective communities.]
