Abstract
This polygon data layer represents slopes greater than 12% in Dane County, Wisconsin in 1995. The dataset was originally published by the Dane County Land Information Office in 2005 using data from the Madison Area Transportation Planning Board.[Polygons representing slopes greater than or equal to 12% in Dane County, Wisocinsin. Derived from 10' resolution LiDAR bare-earth digital elevation model (DEM). Polygons were created and generalized in ArcGIS.]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [To identify steep slope areas within Dane County, WI that are specified in ordinance.] [The data set was developed for regional planning in land use, transportation, and environmental resource applications.]

Description
[The slope data was developed from the 2009 countywide bare earth DEM, using Spatial Analyst and percent slope setting. The procedure created two reclassified outputs for slopes between 12% to 19.99%, and 20% and greater. The Int tool was run on the datasets to covert the cell values to integer. The Raster to Polygon command was run on the datasets to create separate polygon features.]
