City of Tacoma GISPotential Biodiversity Areas/Corridors is based on Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Priority Habitat maps and City of Tacoma Open Space, previous Habitat Corridors, Steep Slope layers and staff review of areas that are greater than 2 acres in size that may meet the parameters in TMC 13.11 for a Biodiversity Area or Corridor. Data is updated continuously based on approved development permits and staff site review. Biodiversity Areas defers from Parks and Open Spaces found under the Land Use Designations layer. Parks and Open Spaces include active use and passive parks and other areas that may be undeveloped but do not necessarily contain native vegetation at the level needed to qualify as a biodiversity area or corridor.
