There are 5 different types of petitions. Irrevocable Petitions are legal documents that commit property owner/developer to support improvments to adjacent unimproved streets/allys in the future. Voluntary Petitions are generally older petitions for improvement and not recorded. Newer ones may be recorded, but differ from irrevocables because the petition is not associated with land development. A Poll asks the property owner if they want their street improved, a yes or no anwser is recorded.
