The Plant Identification Sign project was the first project completed by the newly formed Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge Society, the Friends group for Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Ten signs along the popular Raptor Trail identify both native and invasive species that visitors may see throughout the wildlife refuge and the local Virginia Beach area. Each sign includes the scientific name, common name, several facts about the plant and a sketch. Specifically, this feature layer contains the coordinates of each sign, the names of each of the plants identified along the trail, a number (to keep track of how many signs a visitor has seen along the way) and at least two pictures. One picture is a closeup of the plant and sign, and other photos help orient visitors to the location of the sign along the trail.</dc:description><dc:format>ArcGIS FeatureLayer</dc:format><dc:identifier>https://hub.arcgis.com/datasets/a4642de76f794fc4a2faea326c7c9fda_0</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Open Data</dc:publisher><dc:rights>Public</dc:rights><dc:title>Plant Sign Locations [United States]</dc:title><dc:type>Web services</dc:type><dc:coverage>United States</dc:coverage><dc:date>Last Modified: 2025-03-18</dc:date></oai_dc:dc>
