This dataset shows where largescale tree canopy damage was delineated in aerial surveys in 2019. Only forests in northern and central Minnesota were surveyed in 2019. Forests in southeast Minnseota were not surveyed, but emerald ash borer data from the 2018 aerial survey is included. Only forest disturbances were mapped if they were occurring at the time of the flight. Flights occurred sporadically from late June to early September. The following were the most common disturbers, listed from largest area disturbed to smallest area disturbed: eastern larch beetle, spruce budworm, aspen decline, flooding, larch casebearer, wind, bark beetles, emerald ash borer (surveyed in 2018), forest tent caterpillar, jack pine budworm, fire, and twolined chestnut borer. Not included in this dataset are unknown causes of damage., The purpose of this survey was to indicate where significant and highly noticeable tree damage occurred. Another purpose of this survey was to monitor general trends in forest health conditions (previous years’ aerial survey data is available through the Forest Health unit of the MNDNR)., 20190626-20190904 time period in which polygons were surveyed aerially
