State of IowaThis dataset is a representation of legal school district boundaries in Iowa for the 2024-2025 school year. The Iowa Department of Education conducts a biennial statewide review of school district boundaries in conjunction with the U.S. Census Bureau School District Review Program (SDRP) to record district reorganizations, to verify legal boundaries and improve the accuracy of boundary alignment. This dataset is a representation of the boundaries as they exist upon the close of the SDRP on January 31, 2024. Legal school district boundary information was requested from each school district and county auditor in the form of shapefiles and/or written descriptions. Priority of data used to edit boundaries is as follows: 1. Written descriptions of the school district boundary (the authoritative source). 2. Official map or shapefile representing the written legal description. 3. If no legal description is available or if the description was determined to be incomplete or out-of-date, then county tax parcel data was used, in conjunction with Public Land Survey System (PLSS) Township/Sections.
