Abstract
This polygon data layer represents tax parcels for St. Croix County, Wisconsin in 2007.[The tax parcel layer in St. Croix County was developed from numerous sources of base information including WDNR LandNet, Scanned Registered/Rectified tax parcel map sheets, digital half section mapping, and USGS DOQQ's . These various documents were brought together to create tax parcels, easements, road right-of-ways, and other graphic features that support tax parcel map generation. This map provides a useful representation of the geometry and topology of tax parcels and is suitable for its intended purpose. It is not, however, meant to be used for the determination of land ownership or to be in any way a substitute for the land ownership and interest descriptions contained in individual deeds.]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [The purpose of this shapefile is to provide a map layer of tax parcels and their associated text annotation so as to depict as accurate a representation of tax parcels as possible. Associated with shapefile's polygon feature class will be a unique attribute occurrence of the County Tax Parcel Identification Number (PIN) or base PIN number if it is a common ownership parcel such as a condominium. The sahpefile's PIN attribute will be used to relate to the County Tax Listing Department files. Example attributes from the tax table that will be joined in are owner name, school district, mailing address, acreage, legal description, land code, land value, improvement value, parcel location, and section, town, and range.]
