- Abstract
- This data layer represents buildings for Taylor County, Wisconsin in 2020. [Buildings represent a collection of points spatially located over the main building for any given address. For the most part, in urban areas, there is not a building point located unless the main building would not be physically visible from the road. The data was developed to only show the main structure for a given address, meaning that there is only one building point per address . In the case of duplexes or multi family structures additional building points and site access points are added. By only having one building point per address and one site access point, a one to one relationship is maintained with the site access point.]
- Purpose
- This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [This data set was created as a foundational element for Taylor County. The building feature class provides a digital representation of all primary buildings or structures within Taylor County and is to be used in conjunction with developed digital road centerline, site access points, and driveway feature classes. The building feature class is intended to be used to enhance addressing information within the County. It is a subset to the site access points.]

- Process Step
- Description
- [Step 1: Convert delivered address points shapefile to feature class. Cleaned out unneeded information and added additional necessary fields determined by the counties needs. At this point, domains were also created based on county standards.]
- Process Step
- Description
- [Step 3: Attributed the building point with address or confirmed existing address from address points delivered. Also attributed unique information such as the parcel identification number with a attribute transfer. Unique address id was created in an automated process as points were created.]
- Process Step
- Description
- [Step 7: Table was QC'ed for missing and incorrect data. This includes table analysis within itself and joined to the roads and site access tables. This ensures that the repetitive data remains consistent.]
- Process Step
- Description
- [Step 6: All spatial attributes were assigned to the building points. This included information such as zip codes, ESN and MCD. All buildings along boundary lines were examined to ensure the correct number was assigned.]
- Process Step
- Description
- [Step 5: The building point was copied to the site access layer.]
- Process Step
- Description
- [Step 8: Metadata created.]
- Process Step
- Description
- [Step 4: Missing addresses were searched for in the property tax database and ANI/ALI. Additional addresses were then created as described in steps 1-3. At this point, modifiers were also attributed in the addresses.]
- Process Step
- Description
- [Step 2: Placed address point over building from imagery or created building point and placed over building on imagery.]
