Abstract
This data represents heat vulnerability index for Wisconsin in 2024.
Purpose
This data is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [The Wisconsin Heat Vulnerability Index (HVI) analysis was created by the Climate and Health Program within the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. This data is meant to serve as an informational tool to better understand the spatial distribution of human populations most vulnerable to extreme heat-related events within the state of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Heat Vulnerability Index (HVI) is based on multiple indicators associated with risk for heat related illness and mortality. The index analysis was created as a measure of vulnerability by U.S. Census block groups during an extreme heat-related event. The measure includes health factors, demographic and household characteristics, natural and built environment factors (e.g. air quality, temperature, land cover) and population density.]
