Abstract
This point data layer represents public land survey system corners (PLSS) for Clark County, Wisconsin in 2018. It is a feature class within the geodatabase Clark_PLSS_2018.gdb.[This dataset contains local PLSS locations and attributes collected by the county surveyor or another authorized entity using GPS and conventional surveying methodologies. These points are in The Clark County Coordinate System and have a county-wide extent. The County Surveyor serves as custodian for this data, and updates them as needed]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [These PLSS points are part of a User Densified Network(UDN) related to the WI HARN and are intended to be used as a spatial reference system for surveying and mapping activities in the county. These data are accessible from the Wisconsin State Cartographer's Office via PLSSFinder, an internet application that facilitates quick position and attribute identification of PLSS points in the State of Wisconsin]

Data Quality Information

Quantitative Attribute Accuracy Report
Lineage
Statement
The rural addressing system took place of the rural route system to promote the health, safety, comfort and general welfare of the public by establishing a method for physically locating properties, which is vital for providing emergency services as well as a convenience for other services that serve rural properties. The addressing system has been managed by several departments in the past but now resides with the Planning, Zoning and Land Information Office.
Process Step
Description
Typically an address request comes in indicating the location of the address. The Land Use Technician will go out to the field and do a visual verification that will sometimes include GPS collection. The data/information is then brought back and entered into the data set.
Process Step
Description
Exported original feature class into a new file geodatabase to maintain the original file format of the data and to conform to UW-Madison's data distribution plan.
