Abstract
This data layer represents parcels for Monroe County, Wisconsin in 2012. It is a feature class within the geodatabase, Monroe_Parcels_2012.gdb. [Tax parcels for Monroe County, Wisconsin. The data was derived from a variety of sources including U.S. General Land Office Survey Plats notes, recorded deed descriptions, subdivision maps, record Certified Survey Maps, filed plats/maps of survey, easements, highway and right-of-way plats. These source materials are of differing scales and date from the mid 1800's to the present. This data is a useful representation of the geometry and topology of tax parcels and it is suitable for its intended use. It is not to be used for the determination of actual land title or to be in any way a substitute for land ownership and interest descriptions contained in individual deeds. Parcel boundaries that are not surveyed are mapped based on the best interpretation of the recorded legal descriptions.]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [This information is suitable for a broad range of uses. Some of the primary uses include: Maintenance of the tax assessment database (e.g. acreage determination for assessment, assignment of parcel numbers, identification of potential legal description errors, etc...); A base data set supporting land use conservation planning and administration; A base data set supporting the administration of zoning; A base data set supporting emergency response, planning, and assessment activities.]
