ArcGIS Online for MarylandThis layer quantifies the yearly economic value of Flood Prevention and Stormwater Mitigation Potential across forest and wetland areas. A number of factors were used to calculate economic values, including cost savings from flood insurance benefits, average stormwater remation fees, and cost of installing alternatives for flood prevention and stormwater mitigation (buffers, bio-swales, detention ponds,etc). This is the most valuable service considered, totaling $3.1 billion in Maryland yearly. This data layer was created as part of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources "Accounting for Maryland's Ecosystem Services" program. This is a MD iMAP hosted service.
