Minnesota Pollution Control AgencyThis dataset contains boundaries of communities that are served by NPDES and SDS wastewater facilities regulated by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The boundary geometry is derived from MNDOTs Cities, Townships and Unorganized Territories data. These areas should not be interpreted as actual service area boundaries, but rather an approximation of which communities are contribiting wastwater. Small areas of private sewage systems may exist within a community otherwise connected to a wastewater treatment facility. Tribal permits are administered at the federal level and not represented here.The attributes and locations of areas served by wastewater facilities provide information and context to support decisions on water quality, emergency management, and maintaining environmental quality. These data are intended to inform environmental research and public inquiries.
