Abstract
This data represents National Transportation Dataset (NTD), Wisconsin in 2020.[Layers of geospatial data include roads, airports, trails, and railroads. The Best Practices Dataset is a feature-based database that classifies and uniquely identifies geospatial data from transportation, structures, and governmental units data themes into a seamless, integrated and consistent dataset of national extent. Initial transportation and governmental units data is derived from the U.S. Census Bureau's Topographically Integrated Geographic Encoding and References (TIGER) dataset. The Best Practices Dataset incorporates changes in TIGER from the Accuracy Improvement Project as that work is completed. The initial structures data is derived from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Hazards-US (HAZUS) dataset. The data model was developed in the context of content requirements for these data programs, Homeland Security Infrastructure Program (HSIP) specifications, as well as other sources. The Best Practices Dataset is continuously supplemented with local and regional data to improve the classification, accuracy, and currency of the data. Other data themes are included in the data model in support of emergency operations requirements, however the data is not provided or supported by the USGS at this time.]
Purpose
This data is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [The dataset represents an intersection of common geospatial data requirements at a national scope with capabilities for transaction-level data exchanges for continuous updates. Feature level metadata captures source and process information on data creation and data updates. Unique identifiers support two-way exchanges for synchronization of distributed databases by host data providers, maintainers, and users. By design, the dataset leverages the knowledge and resources of national, regional, and local geospatial data agencies to provide a collective and relevant dataset that reduces or eliminates duplicative geospatial data development efforts. The geospatial data are from selected National Map data holdings and other government sources.]

Description
[All geospatial content is taken from national geospatial databases under the stewardship of USGS data programs. The NAIP imagery is provided by a seamless tile service that delivers image data at the resolution and quality of the source imagery. The raster and vector data, including grids and collar information, are processed using ESRI ArcGIS software and exported. Map formatting is performed using a custom application, which includes post-processing to embed the metadata XML document.]
