Water MonitoringThis data is a graphic representation of the Bureau of Marine Water Monitoring's (BMWM) water quality monitoring points. Points shown belong to at least one of the following monitoring programs at the Bureau; (1) National Shellfish Sanitation Program (NSSP) (2) Coastal Water Quality Network (CWQN) (3) Phytoplankton Network (PHYTO). Each point can be associated with more than one monitoring programs. Each monitoring program is designed to obtain a unique combination of water quality parameters. The parameters measured at each site form datasets that are generated to support Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated requirements. For efficiency purposes, stations are sometimes "piggy-backed" in an effort to develop a more comprehensive ecological dataset.
