- This dataset is based on NOAA's Great Lakes Medium Resolution Digital Shoreline. The Lake Superior Shoreline was extracted and converted to a polygon feature class. Water and islands are differentiated. This layer is a medium-quality, general use digital set originally compiled from NOAA Nautical Charts, created by the Strategic Environmental Assessments Division of NOAA's Office of Ocean Resources, Conservation and Assessment. Nominal mapping scale is 1:70,000., The product is designed to meet the demanding needs of a broad target audience.
