- This dataset is based on NOAA's Great Lakes Medium Resolution Digital Shoreline. The Lake Superior Shoreline was extracted and converted to a polygon feature class. Water and islands are differentiated. This layer is a medium-quality, general use digital vector dataset originally compiled from NOAA Nautical Charts, created by the Strategic Environmental Assessments Division of NOAA's Office of Ocean Resources, Conservation and Assessment. Nominal mapping scale is 1:70,000., The product is designed to meet the demanding needs of a broad target audience.
