This dataset represents the NatureServe scores and rankings used for the USFWS Pacific Lamprey Assessment found in the following two documents. Pacific Lamprey Assessment and Template for Conservation Measures https://www.fws.gov/pacific/fisheries/sphabcon/lamprey/pdf/USFWS%20Pacific%20Lamprey%20Assessment%20and%20Template%20for%20Conservation%20Measures%202011.pdf and Pacific Lamprey Assessment and Template for Conservation Measures in California https://www.fws.gov/arcata/fisheries/reports/technical/PLCI_CA_Assessment_Final.pdf Refer to these documents for more information.HUCs are only included that are known to have had Pacific Lamprey in them historically, and/or HUCs that were included in prior Pacific Lamprey Assessments. HUCs and scores in this dataset only are for the continental US. More Metadata for this dataset can be found in the download available here: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/53c71908e4b0cbaa00b58579The Pacific Lamprey Conservation Initiative (PLCI) is a collaboration of Native American tribes, federal, state, municipal and local agencies, and non-governmental organizations working to achieve long-term persistence of Pacific Lamprey, their habitats, and support their traditional tribal use throughout their historical range spanning the West Coast of North America.The intent of the partnership is to achieve this goal, where ecologically and economically feasible, by maintaining viable populations and habitats in areas where Pacific Lamprey exist currently, restoring where they are at risk of extirpation or are extirpated, and doing so in a manner that addresses the importance of lamprey to tribal peoples. PLCI envisions a future where threats to Pacific Lamprey and their habitats are reduced, and the historic geographic range and ecological role of Pacific Lamprey are restored to the greatest extent possible.
