- The Red River Basin Mapping Initiative 2008-2010 project acquired 1.4-meter Lidar data for the US portion of the Red River Basin. Additionally, imagery was collected for the main corridor of the basin. Information about the full initiative (IWI Red River Basin Mapping 2008-2010 - LiDAR) can be referenced at https://www.mngeo.state.mn.us/chouse/metadata/iwi_rrbmi_08_10_lidar.html This data set is the result of private and government entities working together under the guidance of the International Water Institute (IWI) regarding the Red River Basin Mapping Initiative (RRBMI). The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) St Louis District was one of the major contributors in this funding effort. The International Water Institute provides a forum for collaborative research and communication relative to flood damage reduction and natural resource protection in the Red River Basin. The Institute utilizes technical and professional expertise to help resolve critical water management issues. The International Water Institute strives to develop partnerships to leverage the planned acquisition of LiDAR and imagery to better meet state, local, and federal needs and generate a freely accessible seamless high-resolution digital elevation model for the US portion of the Red River of the North Basin. One of the products of this effort is 1.4m average post spacing LiDAR and its derivatives. Imagery was collected for the main corridor of the basin for future utilization. Imagery was collected for the main corridor of the basin covering blocks A, B, C, and parts of block D&L of the Red River Basin Mapping Initiative. Acquisition dates for the imagery are: 4-18-2008 to 5-18-2008, 5-10-2009 to 5-17-2009.
