The Natural Area Preservation (NAP) Photo Monitoring Project began in the mid-1990s as a way to monitor ecological changes throughout Ann Arbor's beautiful natural areas over time. The effects of invasive species removals, prescribed fire, erosion, and natural vegetation cycles are all evident in these photos. Thanks to the efforts of our incredible staff and volunteers, each point on this map has precisely-taken photos that show how the vegetation and landscape changes from year to year in the exact same spot.
