Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities AreaRegional bicycle barriers are defined as the major physical barriers to daily bicycle travel and include the Twin Cities region's freeways and expressways, rail corridors, and secondary rivers and streams. These were defined through the Regional Bicycle Barriers Study which identified and prioritized a series of barrier crossing improvement locations based on four analysis factors: safety/existing conditions, bicycle trip demand, bicycle network connectivity, and social equity.
