The Future Land Use Map illustrates the City's intended future land use pattern through the geographic distribution of residential and commercial areas, the designation of mixed-use and manufacturing/industrial centers, as well as shoreline and residential designations. This land use distribution was a result of analysis of the urban form policies, existing land use and zoning, development trends, anticipated land use needs and desirable growth and development goals. The land use designations are established in the One Tacoma Comprehensive Plan and provide a basis for applying zoning districts and for making land use decisions.
