Description
This feature layer depicts the surface estate land that was selected by Alaska native corporations (both village and regional), pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) within the National Wildlife Refuges in the state of Alaska, between 1992 and 2014. This map contains data for the following years:199220002008200920102014Only surface estate that was selected by Alaska native corporations is depicted here. Other land status categories within the Refuges, such as USFWS, State of Alaska, native allotments, and other miscellaneous private parcels are not included in this dataset.Reduction in the amount of native corporation selected land from 1992 to 2014 is due to the the ongoing conveyance of selected land to the native corporations. This conveyance is reflected in land patents issued to the corporations. Additionally, some selected lands may have been either rejected by the Bureau of Land Management, and/or may have been voluntarily relinquished by the corporations.
