Abstract
This data represents zoning for Dane County, Wisconsin in 2026 and includes the layers 'DANE_GENERAL_2026' and 'DANE_SHORELAND_2026.' [GENERAL: This feature layer consists of the zoning polygons for the unincorporated areas of Dane County in which the associated town board has adopted the Dane County Zoning Ordinance.SHORELAND: This dataset is created to provide a representation of the Shoreland Zoning Districts, defined in the Dane County Ordinance - Chapter 11, Shoreland, Shoreland-Wetland and Inland-Wetlands Regulations. The dataset is broken down into four areas of regulation. The Shoreland District (Primary) regulates lands within 300 feet of a DNR designated river or stream, or lake or pond and lands within a FEMA 1% Annual Flood Plain. The Shoreland District (Secondary) regulates lands from 300 feet to 1,000 feet from DNR designated river or stream, or lake or pond. The Wetland District regulates lands within 75 feet of the DNR designated wetland. The Ordinary High Water Mark regulates lands within 75 feet of the DNR designated lake or pond.]
Purpose
This data is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [GENERAL: This data layer provides the zoning that is administered by Dane County Planning Development - Zoning Division, for the unincorporated areas of Dane County in which the associated town board has adopted the Dane County Zoning Ordinance, pursuant to s. 59.69(5), Wis. Stats. SHORELAND: This dataset depicts the regulatory areas and setbacks that are defined in Dane County - Chapter 11, for the purpose of promoting and protecting the public health, safety, convenience and general welfare and protecting the public trust in navigable waters.]
