This dataset now has the correct times for each citation. The Saint Paul Police Department works hard to protect the peace and maintain public safety through trusted service with respect. Every day, officers from a variety of units interact with people in the City of Saint Paul. As part of their day-to-day duties, officers may issue three types of citations: Criminal citations Traffic citations Parking citations The following data shows the types of citations issued, total number of citations issued each year since 2015, demographic information about those who received citations and the location of where the citations were issued. Please note: The dataset includes a significant number of fields where no data is available. A majority of the "No Data" fields represent parking citations where the illegally parked vehicle was unoccupied, thus making it impossible for the Saint Paul Police employees to record demographic information. Prior to 2016, the State of Minnesota did not allow police departments to document the race of people to whom citations were issued. Making this data available publicly is part of the Saint Paul Police Department's ongoing commitment to building trust with its community through transparency. Note: We have identified an issue with the time-related data in our datasets. The times are displayed correctly as Central time when viewing the data in the City's open information portal. Upon downloading or exporting the data, any date/time columns are converted to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). This results in the times getting converted to of either 5 hours (during Daylight savings time) or 6 hours (for Standard time) ahead of our Central time. To correct this issue, determine if it is Standard time or Daylight Savings time. Central Daylight Time (CDT) runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. Central Standard Time (CST) is the remainder of the year. If it is CDT, subtract 5 hours from UTC time and if it is CST, then subtract 6 hours. This issue comes from the ESRI platform and is unable to be modified at this time.</dc:description><dc:format>Shapefile</dc:format><dc:identifier>https://hub.arcgis.com/datasets/588fca38b1cd44bda8f101286e204557</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>City of Saint Paul GIS Data</dc:publisher><dc:rights>Public</dc:rights><dc:title>Saint Paul Police Department Citations [Minnesota--Saint Paul]</dc:title><dc:type>Web services</dc:type><dc:coverage>Minnesota--Saint Paul</dc:coverage><dc:coverage>Minnesota</dc:coverage><dc:date>Last modified 2022-06-07</dc:date></oai_dc:dc>
