City of DetroitA demolition permit, also sometimes known as a wrecking permit, is required for the wrecking or tearing down of any building or other structure in Detroit. A licensed professional wrecking contractor or in some cases the property owner (size of property restriction) can apply for a demo/wrecking permit. The demolition permit application is submitted to BSEED for approval. Additional demolition-related requirements regarding lead and asbestos abatement are enforced by other agencies.
