Lake Conditions Assessment - Draft v2 [U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service]
Description
This lakes condition assessment is DRAFT based on methods in development with the Southeast Conservation Adaptation Strategy and the Midwest Landscape Initiative. This layer is being made public to gather feedback from stakeholders and should not be used as an authoritative evaluation. The result presented here are based on assigning 1) a pelagic condition using the upstream watershed condition as reported for the LAGOS lakes and 2) a nearshore condition assessment where adjacent riparian landcover (natural or non-natural) is assigned to a 100 m internal buffer from lakeshore into the lake. 1) WQ/Pelagic scoring is based on total upstream percent ag + percent developed in the watershed. 0-5% = 55-15% = 415-43% = 343-80% = 280-100% = 1 2) If the landcover adjacent to the shoreline is natural, the nearshore zone (100m buffer inside the lake), gets an additional point.
