Shows the presence of relevant classifications of the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) area for properties in King County under the State Building Codes effective 10/29/23. Building codes include new requirements for new or remodeled structures within the WUI area, as designated by Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR). The DNR has published a map showing the designated WUI area. This layer is derived from the DNR layer so that the public and County staff can know which new projects are subject to WUI requirements.This layer represents a extract of the Washington Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) as mapped for 2019 by WA State Dept. of Natural Resources - Wildfire & Forest Health Divisions under consultation from the USFS Rocky Mtn Research Station. The Dept was required by SB 6109 to map the WUI in WA State for the purpose of county-based building code adoptions. The WUI depicts areas of WA where structures and wildland overlap with specific structure densities.
