In 2023, Governor Gretchen Whitmer's budget allowed for state funds to reward renewable energy adopters in the state. As such, in fiscal year (FY) 2024, EGLE will provide $5,000 per megawatt (MW) to permitters and expectant hosts of eligibility utility-scale renewable energy projects which underwent local permitting processes, with $2,500 per MW granted to each awardee in cases when host and permitter differ. There is no deadline to apply to this solicitation. This award will remain open until funds are depleted. This data displays each municipal grantee of the Renewables Ready Communities Awards (RRCA)with some selected fields of relevant information available by clicking each grantee. This data is visualized in a dashboard which summarizes some major statistics of the award, including funds currently disbursed, number of megawatts awarded, and number of municipalities awarded.Municipality locations are estimated and approximate. Many grant and loans are distributed to counties and municipalities without a precise location attached to them. In these cases, the center of the county or municipality was used for the point location on the map. The data is expected to be updated alongside each round of the RRCA, which occurs roughly every two months and adds 5-10 grantees each round. F or more information, please visit the Renewables Ready Communities Award webpage . Field Name Description Municipality The name of the municipal grantee. County The grantee's county if the Municipality field isn't already a county. Energy Project Name The name of the renewable energy project. If a municipality has multiple RRCAs for different projects, they are each listed here. Technology Type Whether the project is wind, solar, battery storage, or hybrid. Megawatts Awarded The number of megawatts of the renewable project(s) that the grantee was involved with, either as a host, a permitter, or both. Host, Permitter, or Both The classification of whether a grantee only hosts for the project(s), only permitted for the project, or performed both functions. Total Award Amount The amount of RRCA granted. This is $2,500 per Megawatt Awarded unless the grantee was both permitter and host, in which case the amount is $5,000 per Megawatt Awarded. Intended Use of Award A brief summary of the grantee's intended use of the award funds. These intended uses were written by the grantee as part of the application process, so they are early estimates and subject to change.
