Description
The Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) settled native land claims in Alaska. It established village and regional native corporations to which the surface estate was granted to village corporations and the subsurface estate was granted to regional corporations.Koniag Incorporated, an ANCSA regional corporation, has been granted various surface and subsurface lands, primarily on Kodiak Island and the Alaska Peninsula.This feature class shows all Koniag Inc. subsurface estate lands within Alaska Peninsula NWR and Becharof NWR in Alaska. It does not show any Koniag lands outside of Alaska Peninsula NWR and Becharof NWR. Five feature classes are included in this dataset:Koniag Subsurface Estate (generalized) : this is a summary of the detailed feature classKoniag Subsurface Estate (detailed) : all attributes, not generalizedKoniag Subsurface Selected (COGSGrM) : coal, oil, gas, sand, gravel, minerals selected by Koniag Inc.Koniag Subsurface Conveyed (COGSGrM) : coal, oil, gas, sand, gravel, minerals patented to Koniag Inc.Koniag Subsurface Conveyed (OGSGM) : oil, gas, sand, gravel, patented to Koniag Inc.
