This layer displays the facilities within Michigan that are active/accepting solid wastes in compliance with Part 115 of Hazardous Waste Management, of the Natural Resources Environmental Protection Act of 1994. Displayed on the map are type II and III sites. A type II landfill is also known as a Municipal Solid Waste landfill, which may accept all types of solid waste, other than Hazardous Waste (as defined by Part 111 of Act 451). A type III landfill may be an industrial waste landfill, a low-hazard industrial waste landfill, or a construction and demolition waste landfill, or some combination of these.
