Injured, orphaned, or ill wildlife must be taken directly to a permitted wildlife rehabilitator and cannot be cared for by any individual who does not possess a valid Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit. The goal of wildlife rehabilitation is to release native wildlife back into their natural habitats. This dataset was created to consolidate licensed rehabilitator information and direct the public to an appropriate facility to expedite the delivery of injured and/or orphaned wildlife. Each permitted wildlife rehabilitator facility's contact information, general location, and list of accepted wildlife is included in the data. The locations of NJ wildlife rehabilitators are sensitive and therefore not visible to the public. If you have found wildlife that appears to be injured, orphaned, or sick, please first contact your local animal control officer or a licensed wildlife rehabilitator to confirm intake capacity and to acquire drop-off information.
