- These areas were deliniated in 2008 and 2009. Drinking water supply management area for a surface water intake (DWSMA-SW) is the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) endorsed surface and subsurface area surrounding a public water supply intake that contains the scientifically calculated surface water protection area and is managed by the entity identified in a surface water protection plan. The boundaries of a DWSMA-SW are delineated by identifiable physical features, landmarks or political and administrative boundaries. Newer DWSMA-SW areas use new gudance and can be found in a separate layer. These areas will be replaced with newer deliniations in the near future. , This dataset was developed with the intention of protecting the public drinking water supply and complies with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, United States Code, title 42 and the Minnesota Department of Health Guidance pertaining to the development and implementation of source water protection plans for public water supplies relying on surface waters., publication date; range of dates: October 31, 2008 to March 23, 2009
