NJ Sports and Exposition Authority, Meadowlands Environmental Research Institute (NJSEA - MERI)The Meadowlands District was delineated for the Hackensack Meadowlands Reclamation and Development Act of 1969. It defines the area managed under the Master Plan developed by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC; formerly the Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission). NJMC served as the zoning and planning agency for a 30.4-square-mile area along the Hackensack River covering parts of 14 municipalities in Bergen and Hudson Counties in New Jersey.
