RWIS stations may include atmospheric and pavement sensors that measure temperature, dew point, wind speed and direction, visibility and precipitation information. RWIS data is used by the Department to support decision making. The use of RWIS by road maintenance authorities has been proven to increase the level of service, which in turn means better road conditions and lives saved.</dc:description><dc:format>ArcGIS FeatureLayer</dc:format><dc:identifier>https://hub.arcgis.com/datasets/2d263cd9880049c3b5876622dd1b86a2_0</dc:identifier><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>Illinois DOT Open Data Portal</dc:publisher><dc:rights>Public</dc:rights><dc:title>RWIS [Illinois]</dc:title><dc:type>Web services</dc:type><dc:coverage>Illinois</dc:coverage><dc:date>Last Modified: 2026-01-08</dc:date></oai_dc:dc>
