Abstract
This data layer represents building footprints for Dane County, Wisconsin at year-end 2017. It is a feature class within the geodatabase, Dane_Buildings_2017.gdb. [This dataset contains building polygon data for Dane County. The dataset consists of structures the size of a single car garage or larger for Dane County, WI excluding structures within the City of Madison. In the City of Madison, building polygons are included for structures the size of a duplex or larger, except for around the Isthmus area.]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [To provide a representation of buildings, for use in habitation or work, across much of Dane County. This dataset will support county departments managing or using building information and for future support of broad regional needs. This information is intended for cartographic use, general spatial analysis and as a spatial index to land related information. It is not intended for site specific analysis.]
